Chili night is official. Wednesday, February 17. Plan accordingly and read the other post about it.

 

• Haga – Boomer: Expect a close match here with GPEs approaching 1.8 or above. We’d like to see both of these teams get a few more wins before the end of the season, but like Highlander, there can be only one.
• McLellan – McLaughlin: Stop at McDonalds and have a McChicken and a McFlurry pregame then crack open a bottle of Jamison and throw away the cap, this will be a clan battle for the ages.
• Dveris – Rohde: Dveris continues to search for the ever elusive victories this season while Rohde continues their search for league domination. All signs point to Rohde.
• Dubois – McGovern: Kick back and pop on some yacht rock. This smooth match will hypnotize you with an ebb and flow like that of a summer’s eve on Catalina. When the merlot runs out it will be McGovern cleaning the deck and Dubois heading upstairs.
• Lawrence – Lickteig: Make sure your Medicaid paperwork is in order before getting anywhere near sheet 5. Help yourself to some Doan’s back pills and update your life insurance policy while you’re at it, anything could happen out there. I’m picking age before beauty on this one.
• Allendorph – Wainberg: Wainberg would be wise to see past the flashy brooms and matching jackets of Allendorph, inside they are just a curling team with a dream that could easily be smashed by some properly placed guards and well executed directional sweeping. Go get ‘em boys.
• Jansen – Hammes: Look out for hard feelings and heavy grudges this week as the former learner attempts to show the former teacher that possible mastery has been achieved by the former learner. Will the former master take the bait?
• Lichty – Anderson: Bright lights, cameras, drones, and paparazzi will be swarming sheet 8 like flies on a rib roast and it’s a good thing too, matches over there are historically difficult to watch from upstairs. The road has been bumpy for Anderson this year and Lichty has been curling with a perpetual tailwind.

Careful where you park this week. Those towing companies have no soul.

CHILI!!!!!! Did you get that? My sources tell me that we have approval to do our annual chili night again this season. It will be on February 17. Keep an eye out for an email with more details as well as a post on the blog next week.

• Dveris – Long: Things are looking good for the team with the most friends. Another big gallery will help Long eek out a win.
• Dubois – Moll: The hits keep coming with this classic matchup. The last rock will decide this one that’s sure to finish late, so be ready to bang on the glass for the winning shot. Too close to call, but I have a feeling that Dubois makes it happen.
• Allendorph – McLaughlin: Allendorph is a tough nut to crack but McLaughlin has been prepping all year for this. Not for the match per se, just prepping in general. They have basements full of fresh water and MREs. When the zombies show up, you’ll want to be near them.
• Anderson – Wainberg: Once mighty Anderson faces off against the rising star that is Wainberg. They’ll keep it close for a few ends but Anderson will slowly pull away. Seems like their explosiveness left with the denim.
• Jansen – Boomer: Rudderless Boomer is looking for a sign that they are on the right path, a divine signal that curling is their calling. That comes this week in the form of a warm handshake and a firm embrace from the Jansen crew. Love is all you need.
• McLellan – Hammes: You heard it here first. Second Hammes win happens now. McLellan, at their most vulnerable, bears their deepest insecurities and gets burned in the process. Fireball has a tendency to do that.
• Lichty – Lickteig: The matchup this week pits Lickteig’s unique brand of malaise era arcade dweller charisma against the slick veneer of Lichty’s coordinated jacket power show in a fight to the death. I hope they wear their Fitbits so we can verify who’s alive when this is all over.
• Lawrence – McGovern: Lawrence has been known to try to use frequent flyer miles to buy handicap points but that won’t fly this week. McGovern has booked a first class trip to Winnerville, population, 4, landing at 10:45. You are now free to move about the sheet.

Please excuse the website functionality. I had some database problems overnight but things are mostly back to normal. It looks like maybe the Schedule page isn’t showing the most current week however, so you may have to select the right one from the dropdown.

The heat is on here in week 13 and I can’t tell you why but the last resort for most of you would be to get over it.

• Haga – McLaughlin: It’s going to be a heartache tonight for someone out there. Have your Mylanta ready because I see a mild upset in the works.
• Rohde – McGovern: Don’t expect some kind of partytown on sheet 7 this week, these two serious teams will play a serious game that will result in a serious winner.
• Long – Lickteig: There are no brakes for Long or Lickteig this week because life in the fast lane does not allow it. We’ll need an extra Brillo pad to scrape what’s left of Long off of the back wall.
• Dubois – Anderson: Anderson may be able to capitalize on an off night for Dubois due to a possible case of smuggler’s blues which is often a byproduct of cross border travel.
• Dveris – Hammes: Dveris should take precautions to avoid lyin’ eyes during the coin flip. Hammes has tasted victory and can do nothing but chase that elusive high at any price.
• Boomer – Moll: One of these nights Boomer will bring it strong. We’ve all seen their potential. Could this be the week they unleash it?
• Lawrence – Lichty: Lawrence has been busy being fabulous while Lichty has been focusing on fundamentals. One can only coast on charm so long.
• McLellan – Wainberg: McLellan, you belong to the city, and with that comes a host of responsibilities. Wainberg knows their way around so this one could be close.
