Rule Question Of The Week

This question comes from myself:

Casey: At what point can a skip begin sweeping an opponents rock that is passing the T-Line?

Answer (according to the old guy who sits behind the desk at the club): You can only start sweeping when the rock crosses (touches) the T-Line.

This is interesting because I notice several teams that “warm” the ice behind the T-Line prior to the opponents rock getting to the Line. This, according to the rules guy, is illegal.

So there you have it. Good curling everybody. And don’t cheat!

From my match I noticed lots of close competition on sheet 1, 4, and 5 with winners being decided on the last rock in some cases.  See “The Last Shot” video below to see how things developed for Wansteen.  Results reporting is getting better with only one match not reported by the time I left.  If anyone knows how the Anderson/Stanek bout concluded, please drop me a line.  –Update– The Google spreadsheet that Sean maintains lists Anderson as the victor in that one.  We have 100% reporting.

Three teams remain undefeated,  three teams are still looking for their first win, and the rest of us are duking it out in the middle.  See you next week.

Good curling.

The Last Shot

So I remembered to take the video camera to the club this week and managed to get a few videos before my battery died. I think maybe I’ll start a segment called “The Last Shot” where I try to get a video of a game winning throw.
I happened to get one this week so I’ll share it with you.

Wangsteen is down by one with the hammer, currently sitting with one to tie, witness the last shot.

Nice work.
