Jansen–Tolzmann

-:-

In a rare-for-indoor-sports moment, weather could play a factor this week in match outcomes.  Holiday travel coupled with questionable game-time road conditions could leave many teams shorthanded or taking on rookie subs.  Look for a few surprises this week.

  • Boomer – McGovern:  My allegiance is clear, but this will not be a gimmie.  Boomer’s schedule is similar to ours and we have both fallen to Lichty.  McGovern by two.
  • Lawrence – Beranek:  Lawrence has had a tougher schedule and is cruising after handing Anderson their first loss.  Look for a close match through four ends with Lawrence pulling away in the fifth.
  • Wangensteen – McLellan:  Wangensteen is another team who has had a tough schedule early on and while McLellan is hungry (like the wolf) the power of bare legs will propel Wangensteen to a holiday victory.
  • Stanek – Jansen:  Stanek has already faced the top two rinks this season, now they take on third ranked Jansen.  If Jansen comes with the varsity squad, they should be able to take care of business.
  • Lichty – Dubois:  The schedule for Dubois has been all over the map while Lichty has certainly had it tough, but Lichty is on the rise so I’m picking them for the upset of the week.
  • Dveris – Kruse:  One loss separates these two rinks.  I’m going with Dveris because of their recent victory over Beranek.
  • Erickson – Rohde:  Rohde’s win over Lawrence will bring them confidence in this matchup.  Look for Erickson to score first, but Rohde to win.
  • Lockwood – Anderson:  Both Lockwood and Anderson have spent the first six weeks taking on lower ranked teams but Anderson won’t give up their standing easily.  This one will be my extra end pick (yes – ballsy) with Anderson holding on for the win.

This week is sure to inspire stories for the dinner table on Thursday so stop back to see how your rink progressed this week and look for more exciting video to share on your smart phone with your crazy uncle who thinks you made this whole sport up to sound more important to the relatives.

Happy Thanksgiving and good curling.
