| Sheet 1 | Schmidt vs. Trygstad | Trygstad |
| Olympic trial fever has everyone thinking they’re Danny Casper this weekend. Double run back triple takeout and roll under the center guard will be called more than once but executed zero times. Schmidt may still be contending with an IR situation whereas Trygstad is healthy and hungry. Look for Trygstad, like a prairie dog, to poke their heads up above .500 this week. | ||
| Sheet 2 | McLaughlin vs. Lickteig | Lickteig |
| Battle of the 4 and 0s this week on sheet two! One of these undefeated giants will give up the “W” take the “L”. Let’s hope nobody Ls their G and Ss on the I, if you know what I mean. Should be a great 7 ends, because the buzzer makes a full 8 end game a thing of the past. Lickteig wins but just barely, McLaughlin picked up a few tips while streaming Peacock this weekend. | ||
| Sheet 3 | Futterer vs. Long | Futterer |
| One sheet over we have the inverse, the battle of the 0 and 4s. The streak ends for one lucky team this week. But it’s not luck that will be the deciding force, no sir, the winner has to play the long game and grind it out on the fringes. Can Futterer shake the curse or will it be Long who has the endurance? I’m going with league history here and giving Long the edge. | ||
| Sheet 4 | Ostrosky vs. Walsh | Walsh |
| Walsh looks to prairie dog this week as well, hoping the shake the 5 way tie for 8th place. Ostrosky definitely can’t be underestimated here as they’ve had a few that could have gone either way this season. While history may be give the edge over on sheet 3, the opposite is true on 4. Ostrosky is firing on all cylinders this week to take the win and climb up a rung on the league ladder. | ||
| Sheet 5 | Rubbelke vs. Schwartz | Rubbelke |
| Every year the metro league gets harder to predict, many of the once great rinks have plateaued, and many of the scrappy upstarts have earned their stripes. Rubbelke will play sheet 5 to their advantage this week and back Schwartz up against the edge. Another Arbor Mist opportunity for Schwartz. | ||
| Sheet 6 | perpich vs. Olson | Olson |
| As the great R. Balboa said “It ain’t how hard you hit; it’s about how hard you can get hit, and keep moving forward. How much you can take and keep moving forward. That’s how winning is done.” It doesn’t really apply to curling, or this match. Perpich will sneak it out in the final end. | ||
| Sheet 7 | Wenzel vs. Ritt | Ritt |
| I like Ritt on this one. They’ve been grinding it out on multiple nights this fall, trying to dial in their formula like an urban pharmacist with a gambling debt. Wenzel on the other hand, seems to be the recipient of some benevolent win dispensary. This week, the benefactor sours. | ||
| Sheet 8 | McGovern vs. Kavanaugh | Kavanaugh |
| You know when a TV show wins an Emmy for some weird bottle episode with a guest director? That’s how this one is going to play out. Both sides trapped on sheet 8, tension builds, characters are developed, the viewers get an unflinching perspective on the meat grinder this game truly is. What will really surprise people the most is how much cheating goes on. So much cheating. And lies. But mostly cheating. | ||
