Week Six Wrap-Up

My skills of picking winners in this league have improved a bit.

This week’s winners include (* indicates my pick)

  • Anderson
  • Wangensteen
  • Stanek *
  • Lichty *
  • McGovern *
  • Sonnabend *
  • Beranek *
  • Rohde

With Beranek beating Jansen, the pool of undefeated teams is reduced to one – Sonnabend stands alone as the rink to beat.

See you next week.

  • Dveris – Anderson:  So far Dveris has had the tougher schedule, but Anderson has the better record.  I’m going with Dveris for the upset.
  • Lawrence – Wangensteen: Wangensteen will have a tough time against Lawrence, but never underestimate the only rink that wears shorts.  Lawrence will win by one.
  • Arndt – Stanek:  One win separates these two, but to date, Stanek has had tougher battles. Stanek will win, but not without effort.
  • Boomer – Lichty:  Lichty still haven’t played a rink ranked below 8th this season while Boomer has carded its wins over lower ranked teams.  Lichty will win in extra ends.
  • Kruse – McGovern:  Another classic case of lopsided schedules, but Kruse has shown that they’re no pushovers by defeating Dubois way back in week 1.  Still my allegiance to my own skip compels me to pick McGovern.
  • Dubois – Sonnabend:  Sonnabend, still on a roll will be hard to beat this week, but this will mark their first match against a team in the top half of the league.
  • Jansen – Beranek:  Jansen is also on a roll, but something tells me that Beranek will make it happen this week.
  • McLellan – Rohde:  Another win for Rohde would really help them in the standings, but McLellan is hungry.  This one is going to come down to who has the hammer in the eighth.  Too close to call!

As usual, the results should be posted on Thursday morning, so stop back to see how things shook up this week.

Good Curling.

Week Five Wrap-up

You can see the results of week five in the post below.  It’s a good thing I don’ t make picks for a living, I didn’t do so well.

Congratulations to the following winners (* indicates picks I got right):

  • Boomer
  • Wangensteen
  • Rhode
  • Anderson *
  • Lockwood
  • McGovern *
  • Sonnabend *
  • Dubois *

Two teams remain undefeated and only one team is till without a win.

An underdog of the night award goes to Rohde who recorded their first win against previously undefeated Lawrence.  It just goes to show that this league is tight and there are no easy wins.

See you next week.

Good curling.
